CAREER JOURNEY & FWA
Darcy began her career in the 1980s working for a New York City based creative agency. One of her accounts was Citi Alternative Investments and she quickly grew to love the combination of content and design that was required to serve that industry. Upon leaving to found her own agency, BaselineGroupNY, in 1997, with Citi as her first client, Darcy set about building a creative agency to serve the financial industry. At that time there were relatively few women in senior positions in the financial sector who could serve as mentors or role models, making it challenging for women to envision their own paths in the industry or gain guidance.
When Darcy found the FWA she found a great support system. This community of women succeeding in the financial sector gave her access to mentors, partners and younger women just entering the sector that she could share her knowledge with. Despite the challenges of the time, many women, like Darcy, persevered and worked to break down barriers. Their efforts during this time helped pave the way for future generations of women in finance by advocating for equality and promoting more inclusive practices in the workplace.
As a dedicated member of the Financial Women's Association Darcy has contributed significantly to discussions around best practices in financial communication. Her involvement has included sharing insights on effective communication strategies, and fostering collaboration among industry professionals. Through her membership, she has not only expanded her own knowledge but also helped elevate the standards of communication within the financial sector. Darcy continues to influence the industry by promoting transparency and clarity in financial reporting, advocating for ethical communication practices, and supporting the development of aspiring professionals in finance. Her passion for her work and commitment to excellence make her a respected figure in the financial community.
