As we mark FWA’s 70th anniversary, we are honored to recognize Joan Shapiro Green for her contributions to the FWA community. Joan will receive the 2026 FWA Leadership Impact Award at the FWA's
70th Anniversary Gala. Please join us on October 8 as we honor Joan and the legacy of leadership and mentorship that has shaped FWA for the past seventy years.

Joan Shapiro Green has over 25 years of executive management experience in the for-profit and not-for-profit arenas. She was the Lead Director of the Board of Directors of the Central Park Group registered mutual funds. She serves as a director on the Board of the American Red Cross in Greater New York. Previously, Ms. Green was Executive Director of the National Council of Jewish Women, New York Section, a 123-year-old volunteer organization that works through education, advocacy, and community service to improve the quality of life for women, children, and families.
Prior to NCJW NY, Ms. Green was Executive Director of the New York Society of Security Analysts, a 9,000-member organization that promotes awareness and understanding of securities analysis, investing, and best practices in the financial industry. She was President of the Financial Women’s Association from 2002 to 2003. Her previous FWA assignments included Secretary, Co-Chair of the Annual Dinner, Co-Chair of Membership, and Co-Chair of the International Conference in Sweden. She also served as Co-Chair of a new Member-to-Member Mentoring Committee. From 2006-2011, she served as Co-Chair of Marketing.
She was a founding member of the Bankers Trust Global Partnership Network for Women, an organization that fosters closer ties among women at the bank and on Wall Street. In 1995, Ms. Green helped launch Women on Wall Street, a Deutsche Bank event that has attracted over 2000 attendees from across the country.
Ms. Green was formerly President of BT Brokerage, a wholly owned subsidiary of Deutsche Bank whose principal business was institutional discount brokerage and related services. She assumed the Presidency in 1992. Ms. Green joined Bankers Trust in 1981, serving in increasingly senior positions in the bank’s Employee Benefit business.
Ms. Green is a graduate of Mount Holyoke College with a BA with distinction in Mathematics. While at Mount Holyoke, she was elected to Phi Beta Kappa. She served on the Mount Holyoke Board of Trustees from 1996 to 2001 and is now an honorary member of the Board of Directors of the New York City Mount Holyoke Alumnae Club. In 2001, Ms. Green was awarded the Mount Holyoke Alumnae Medal of Honor.
Ms. Green has been active in a variety of professional and civic organizations. She completed terms as a member of the NASD District 10 Business Conduct Committee, the New York Stock Exchange Specialty Firms Committee, and as Chairman of the SIA Institutional Brokerage Committee.
Ms. Green is married to Franklin Green, and they have two children and five grandchildren.
