Highly Acclaimed Coach Jim Arnoff Interactive Sessions
Wednesday, April 29, 2020
On April 6th and 23rd, respectively, Career Coach and FWA member, Jim Arnoff, ran two Zoom workshops focusing on career empowerment: ‘Embracing What You Can Control in Your Career…Lose the Fear, Gain the Power’ and ‘Creating That Ideal Career in Your New World…Now More Than Ever!’
Throughout the first, interactive session, Jim asked participants to articulate any work-related challenges they were facing in the current virtual working climate. He also encouraged everyone to take advantage of the current climate and reach out to others being mindful of the words used when connecting.
Jim shares a few tips about reaching out to others:
- demonstrate that you are genuinely connecting with that person (after something you read or someone you spoke with recently);
- don’t reach out with expectations: come across as authentic and ask how you can support that person right now; and
- your ‘ask’ must match the relationship.
Throughout the second session on creating your ideal career, Jim asked participants to identify and articulate their dream career and encouraged all participants to create visuals (a white board or a wall covering that acts as a white board with pictures) because doing so will create a stronger sense of feasibility to the brain.
As participants shared practical and personal challenges, Jim illustrated how to focus on what we can control and how we can make our dream career a reality.
A few tips second session included:
- in addition to a white board, say your dream career out loud;
- get a partner to help you envision your dream career;
- when you articulate that dream career, be specific and act as if you are already there;
- when defining your dream career, consider if your energy intersects with your skills and if it is a match.
