Banking Culture & Behaviours – Where Compliance, Ethics & Leadership Meet to Create Positive Change
Across the global financial world there has been a crisis of ethics and a need for a different type of compliance culture. This has been recognized by executives and workers, regulators and politicians, and by the public at large. Despite the resources, time and attention devoted to ethics and compliance within financial services, very little has changed.
Join us as we will cover such topics as:
- Global backdrop: What are companies and regulators focusing on today around the globe to address these challenges- what is working and what isn't.
- Incentives: A crisis is a good catalyst for change, but it isn’t enough to make the change last. Among the flurry of new policies, regulations, and leader messages, organizational habits and processes also need to be fundamentally changed. Changing incentive structures alone has indeed not proven to be effective to trigger meaningful lasting change.
- Culture: Don’t make culture change the reason for a culture change. Articulate a rationale for change based on doing the best business for the long run.
- Implementation pitfalls: Make the vision real. Focus on specific behaviors and symbols to make the necessary behaviors tangible.
- Developing talent: Build in ways to reinforce the behaviors and turn them into sustainable habits.
- How is the media and mass communication shaping ethics and compliance in a globalized economy? What solutions are available to change the narrative?
Advisor to Senior Executives and Leadership Teams
Managing Director, CRA, Inc.
Catherine is a Managing Director at CRA, Inc., focusing on providing leadership coaching to executives in Financial Services, Fintech, Commodities, Professional Services and the Non-Profit sectors. She brings decades of expertise in business and strategic growth, innovation, talent development, regulatory affairs, diversity and inclusion, and more. Prior to this, Catherine was the CEO of Pefin, the world’s first AI financial advisor, and before Pefin, she was the Managing Director and Head of Commodity Derivatives, Foreign Exchange and Emerging Markets Sales and Trading for the Americas at BNP Paribas, and as Chief Marketing Officer of J.P. Morgan, as well as many other roles.
Catherine has been a leader in Financial Services, serving on the boards of many organizations. She currently is on the Advisory Board of Jai Kisan (India), Darisami (Mauritius), Parameter Insights (Canada), and the Living Centerline Institute (US). She was formerly on the board of the Securities Industry and Financial Markets Association (SIFMA), and Digital Asset Holdings, a market leading blockchain company. She also advised Pefin for two years in matters of Marketing, Regulation, Business Development and International Growth prior to becoming CEO.
Catherine has won numerous accolades, including 'Most Influential Woman in European Investment Banking' in 2012 and being one of the '100 Most Influential Women in European Financial Markets' in 2010 and 2011. A long-time champion of diversity, she has also served on the J.P. Morgan Investment Banking Inclusive Leadership Council as well as on the J.P. Morgan Chase Diversity Council. Service to the community has always been a priority for Catherine, and she has worked with a number of significant non-profit organizations, and is currently on the board of Cristo Rey Brooklyn, a college preparatory high school serving the population of New York City with extremely limited economic means. She is on the Wall Street Advisory council for the Texas A&M business school. Her contributions led her to being inducted into the Academy of Women Leaders by the YWCA.
Catherine has A bachelor's degree in Economics and Finance from Texas A&M University, and a master's degree in Economics from Brown University. She lives in New York with her husband and has three sons and one beautiful granddaughter!

As the leader of Admired Leadership® | Asia, Krisztina Anspach counsels senior leaders across various countries and industries in Asia and globally. She provides coaching for leaders and teams in the areas of building and leading teams, leadership communication, performance and talent management, and relationship building. Krisztina brings to her clients her extensive experience in developing businesses and leading teams at top tier investment banks, across numerous countries in Europe, Middle-East, Africa, and in Asia-Pacific.
or over a decade she was a Managing Director at BNP Paribas within its Global Markets businesses where she led teams based in London, Hong-Kong, Singapore, South Korea and Australia. She was in charge of building BNP Paribas’s presence in Asia, Central and Eastern Europe, Middle East and Africa. She covered institutional investors, private and retail banks for investment products and solutions. Throughout her tenure at BNP Paribas, Credit Suisse and Deutsche Bank, Krisztina has built a strong track record in leading rapidly expanding teams in emerging areas of business in a wide range of geogra-phies. She has recruited and coached multinational talent and driven exceptional performance. Krisztina is also involved in inclusive leadership initiatives across the financial services industry in Hong Kong. She is a member of the industry group “Women Chief Executive Hong Kong” and has initiated leadership mentoring programs industry wide.
Krisztina was born in Hungary and has lived in the Middle-East, France, London and Hong-Kong. She has graduated from HEC Paris with a Master’s Degree in Finance and holds a post-graduate degree in Financial Law. She currently resides in Hong Kong.
Legal Analyst and Adjunct Professor, University of Southern California
Ms. Austin is a legal analyst and Adjunct Professor at the University of Southern California. She has appeared on a number of networks including Fox 11, Law and Crime, and Cheddar TV. She previously served as Chief Corporate Policy Officer for S&P Global where she was responsible for implementing and monitoring corporate policies, standards, and procedures to ensure compliance with the highest industry standards.
Ms. Austin previously served as Chief Diversity Officer for S&P Global from 2010 to 2015 where she developed an integrated diversity strategy across the businesses to enhance the company's workforce and business opportunities.
She previously worked at American International Group (AIG) from 1990 to 2010 in several roles including Chief Diversity Officer for AIG, Chief Compliance Officer for Domestic Insurance and General Counsel for Domestic Claims. Prior to joining AIG, she was an associate at Richards & O’Neil from 1986 to 1990, and an assistant counsel with the New York City Law Department from 1983 to 1986.
Ms. Austin holds a bachelor's degree in political science from Grinnell College, a Juris Doctorate from Columbia University School of Law, and a Master's degree from the Columbia School of Journalism. She is a member of the New York City Bar Association, and also served on a number of non-profit boards including Riverdale Country School, Women’s Sports Foundation, Girls Inc of New York City and New Alternatives for Children. Ms. Austin has received a number of honors including The Network Journal’s 25 Influential Black Women in Business in 2008, and Top Diversity Executive by Black Enterprise in 2011. She lives in New York City and Los Angeles and has three adult children. She is also a black belt in Tae Kwon Do and has completed three New York City Marathons.
