Mentoring Committee Bowling Party – May 6, 2012

(l-r): Mentors Mindy Kipness and Susan Jankowski with MBHS mentees: Karina Zoulaga, Yvonne Duong and Janelly Grullon of the Three Musketeers Team.
On May 6, 2012 the Mentoring Committee hosted our second annual Bowling Party at Bowlmor Lanes near Union Square. An enthusiastic group of mentors and mentees from Murry Bergtraum High School (MBHS) and Baruch got together for some bowling fun and networking, too. We broke into 5 teams – The Striking Ladies, The Three Musketeers, The Fab Five, The Little Champs and The Feisty Five - and competed for prizes for the team with best average score. And congratulations to the winning team- The Fab Five! The team included mentors Cindy Gerhard and Francoise Jeanpierre, Baruch mentee Natalia Vaysblit-Vitebskaya and MBHS mentees Ashley Caceres and Jady Sanchez.

A prize also went to the bowler with the highest score. Congratulations to MBHS mentee Ashley Caceres! But it wasn't all about competition. There was even a prize for the bowler with the lowest score. And after bowling we moved into a private room where we relaxed after our hard work and enjoyed lunch. The event was a wonderful opportunity for mentors and mentees to meet and mingle – and have a little fun.

This is what some mentees had to say about the event:

Bowling was a great experience with my mentor. It was one of the last experiences in the FWA program for my senior year. I will forever appreciate the experiences of the FWA program.
- Anonymous, Senior

Bowling was fun. I got to improve my skills in bowling.
- Adelin Rodriguez, Senior

The bowling event was fun because I was able to interact with other mentors and listen to their college experiences. We enjoyed getting to know each other better while having fun. Thank you FWA!
- Scarly Acosta, Senior

The bowling event trip was really fun. I had a great time with my friends.
- Jasmine Bhagwandeen, Senior

The bowling event was fun even though my mentor didn't attend. I was the bowler with the 1st highest score in the 2nd round. - Takiyah Harris, Senior

*I had fun going to the bowling trip. It was great just hanging out with the mentees and mentors. It was also fun having the highest score. -Ashley Caceres, Junior

The bowling event was a lot of fun. It was a great way to bond with my mentor and spend time together. I like more events like this. -Yvonne Duong, Junior

I loved going bowling! It was the first time in years! I can't wait to go bowling again! It was fun and I learned that without bumpers there I was horrible! We should do it again! -Janelly Grullon, Junior

The bowling trip was awesome! It was actually my first time bowling and I loved it. I had a high score for a beginner and a strike! I'm glad I had this opportunity as well as the other fun things we do.
-Karina Zoluaga, Junior
