FWA Mentoring Committee Holiday Event
- A mentoring event - December 4th
The Mentoring Committee's holiday event was a huge success! Held on Sunday, December 4th, the day began with brunch at Café Fiorello on the Upper West Side. Sixty three mentors and mentees from both programs dined on a scrumptious three course meal. The group then enjoyed a performance of George Balanchine's The Nutcracker. An annual tradition at Lincoln Center, the New York City Ballet has been performing this production since 1954. The mentors and mentees were dazzled by the costumes, music and scenery and were amazed by the poise and skill of the dancers. For many of the mentees, this was their first visit to Lincoln Center and first performance of The Nutcracker. By the bright smiles and joy in their eyes, we're sure they'll be back again. A special thanks to Pat Lucey for her hard work in organizing the event.

"I liked the play because it's not something I see every day and it was a cute Christmas story. They did a great job with the snow effect and the Christmas tree. Thank you for taking us." Scarly Acosta, Senior at MBHS.

"The brunch was wonderful and delicious. The show was spectacular. A perfect event to get to know my mentor a bit better." Kaiv Abreu, Sophomore at MBHS.

"I liked the Nutcracker because the costumes were beautiful and the music suited each dance." Yvonne Duong, Junior at MBHS.

"The Nutcracker was amazing and it was magical. I would love to see it again." Jasmine Bhawangdeen, Senior at MBHS.
