On November 17th, the FWA Entrepreneur's Committee hosted a room full of FWA members and guests at Bar Stuzzi. The theme for the luncheon was how to stop doing IT the hard way, and all the attendees would agree they left the luncheon well armed with helpful hints, tips and acronyms!
After a warm welcome by committee Co-Chair, Maribeth Martorana, Vice President, Market Strategist, FactSet Research Systems, Ellen DePasquale, Regional Development Director at Constant Contact, aka The Software Revitalist, was introduced by committee member Jenevra Georgini, Associate General Counsel, American International Group, Inc.
Ellen began the discussion by encouraging attendees to incorporate her 5 key time management strategies: Automation, Customization, Personalization, Organization and Integration (ACPOI). Ellen also demonstrated how to apply her methods to daily tasks like answering emails, entering data, and working with popular software programs for both PC and Mac users. Attendees received a link to 12 pages of detailed information and "how-to's" for major email applications. www.eocomputing.com/acpoi.pdf
Ellen went far above and beyond her planned program, though, in requesting, and then addressing, individual attendees' questions. Those questions ranged from straightforward etiquette -- How quickly must I respond to emails? -- to strategic details -- Which Client Relationship Management and Project Management software do YOU recommend? Attendees were also encouraged to share their own insights and to ask follow-up questions. With an eye on cost efficiency, Ellen mentioned a number of programs that are available free of charge.
The attendees also had plenty of time for networking and used this opportunity to create new contacts, strengthen existing relationships, and make career connections!
The Entrepreneurs Committee has other terrific luncheons planned for this year and next. Keep an eye on the FWA calendar.
