FWA Invests in the “Next Generation”
The ceremony of welcoming new recipients of FWA Graduate Scholarships has become an annual tradition of the Graduate Scholarship Committee. This year the celebration was held on November 22nd at the nicely decorated Reception Hall of UBS, a proud member of FWA Presidents' Circle. This reception is an informal way of welcoming the current scholars to the community of former scholars and FWA members involved with the FWA Graduate Scholarship Program, which is one of several "Next Generation" initiatives supported by the FWA.
The five scholars, all second-year graduate students attending the top business schools of NYC metropolitan area, were welcomed warmly by FWA President Susan Ganz, SVP of UBS Financial Services Sharon Sages Swasey and other FWA officers and members as well as hosts from UBS Recruiting Department. The continuing interest of FWA members in the Graduate Scholarship Program demonstrates that, the Program not only provides well-deserved support to young women studying business, but also creates a network that helps scholars both in the beginning of their careers and later on.
One of the main goals of the Program is to bring current industry leaders together with leaders of the future. To attain this goal and to promote scholars' continuing benefit from the FWA network, FWA grants a complimentary membership to each scholar the year following her scholarship and completion of her degree. The atmosphere of informal interaction is a hallmark of this reception, which draws people to attend and participate in the event year after year.
