Sallie Krawcheck Speaks to Full House at FWA's Distinguished Speakers Event

The FWA's Distinguished Speakers committee proudly kicked off its 2010 series on January 20 featuring Sallie Krawcheck, President of Global Wealth & Investment Management for Bank of America. In an engaging and inspiring program, in the firm's midtown headquarters at One Bryant Park, Krawcheck provided candid first-hand perspectives on the evolving industry dynamics, regaining investor confidence and managing challenges. The evening began with a cocktail reception, hosted by Bank of America, and was enjoyed by members and guests alike with nearly 200 attendees, some old friends of the FWA, and some brand new to these programs. All looked forward to the sold-out event and added to the interesting and energetic conversations during the reception.

The keynote program opened in a conversational format with probing questions from Susan Isquith, co-chair of the Distinguished Speakers Committee. Krawcheck responded with thoughtful reflection on the industry over the past few years, and provided a personal perspective on the new environment for Global Wealth and Investment Management, as well as ongoing implications of the financial crisis. Krawcheck then took questions from the audience. Krawcheck openly responded with seasoned experience and industry know-how, balanced with a touch of humor. Krawcheck highlighted her priority on how the financial industry will need to work to regain the vital trust of investors and customers. She noted that it is critical to engender that trust over the long-term.

Forbes magazine, in 2006, listed her as #6 in the rank of the “World’s 100 Most Powerful Women.” among many other prestigious awards. In addition, she is a member of the board of directors of BlackRock, Inc.; her alma mater, The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill Foundations, Inc.; and Carnegie Hall. She is on the board of overseers of Columbia Business School and the board of trustees for The Economic Club of New York.
