Course description and application

Twice a year, the NYJL's Nonprofit Boards Clearinghouse offers a nonprofit board training course for its volunteers and non-members who are interested in serving on a nonprofit board. The six-session Leadership Through Governance: Training for Nonprofit Board Membership course focuses on several areas of effective board participation and leadership, including: governance, legal responsibilities, financial management, fundraising, strategic planning and board development. A wide variety of learning activities is used, including case studies, lectures, role-playing, group exercises and a panel discussion involving current nonprofit board members.
