Panelist Profile
Maliz E. Beams oversees all of TIAA-CREF's areas responsible for Individual and Institutional Client Services, including the company's Wealth Management Group, Advice and Planning; Insurance, Trust, Brokerage and Wealth product management; telephone counseling centers, on-campus Field Consulting Group and Institutional Relationships. She also serves as president and chief executive officer of TIAA-CREF Individual & Institutional Services, LLC and as a member of the company's Executive Management Team. Prior to being named executive vice president, Ms. Beams was head of TIAA-CREF's Wealth Management business, Individual Trust, and Advice & Planning Services. Ms. Beams joined TIAA-CREF in 2004 as head of TIAA-CREF's Wealth Management business, and Advice & Planning Services. She has 30 years experience with the financial services industry - in both domestic and international markets - specializing within institutional, high net worth and retail markets.
Georganne C. Proctor is Executive Vice President, Chief Integration Officer of TIAA-CREF. She oversees all finance and actuarial functions, including financial management and planning, actuarial, tax, treasury, accounts payable, purchasing, accounting and financial reporting, and internal audit and controls.
Most recently Ms. Proctor was Executive Vice President of Finance for Golden West Financial Corporation, the holding company of World Savings Bank. From 1994 through 2002, Ms. Proctor was Senior Vice President, Chief Financial Officer and a member of the Board of Directors of Bechtel Group, Inc., where she held a series of financial positions from 1982 through 1991. From 1991 to 1994, she was Director of Project & Division Finance at Walt Disney Imagineering, and Director of Finance & Accounting for Buena Vista Home Video International. Ms. Proctor is a director of both Redwood Trust, Inc. and the newly-created board of Kaiser Aluminum.
Cara Schnaper is Executive Vice President, Technology and Operations at TIAA-CREF. Ms. Schnaper oversees the company's technology and operations strategy and policy. She also is responsible for continuing to upgrade TIAA-CREF's systems and technology infrastructure and ensuring an integrated approach between the company's information technology and operations groups.
Ms. Schnaper joined TIAA-CREF with nearly 30 years of experience in the financial services industry and extensive experience in operations and technology. Most recently, Ms. Schnaper served as a principal at Market Resolve, LLC, a consulting firm that provides guidance on technology and operations of financial companies. Prior to that, she worked at JPMorgan Chase & Co., where she oversaw a staff of 2,000 people responsible for providing operational infrastructure to the institutional business. She also managed the middle office of the investment bank and had a key role in the integration of operations and technology during the merger of JPMorgan and Chase. Previously, she was the head of technology and operations for JPMorgan's equities department.
Mary Ellen Connerty is a worldwide Partner, a consultant in the Human Capital Business of Mercer, and Mercer’s Global Diversity Leader. She is based in Hoboken, New Jersey. Mary Ellen has broad HR management experience derived over 25 years in senior corporate roles in ITT Corporation, Chase Manhattan Bank and the Mercer family of companies. She has led several areas within HR including: Employee Relations, HR Operations, Learning, and Global Talent Management.
Mary Ellen specializes in Executive Talent Management. She also leads consulting assignments on broad work force strategy issues with a particular emphasis on creating talent management solutions based on the alignment of business objectives and HR. She has consulted on setting global strategy and implementing programs and technology in the areas of performance management, career and succession planning, leadership, executive development and learning.
Andrea S. Kantor is a senior vice president / senior underwriter in commercial banking credit at JPMorgan Chase Bank. She is a team leader in the bank’s not-for-profit and healthcare banking group in the Northeast.
Andrea’s financial services career spans over 20 years and includes work in credit, relationship management and capital markets. She has held positions at Bank One, The First National Bank of Chicago, National Westminster Bank and Oppenheimer.
For nearly six years before joining JPMorgan Chase in 2009, Andrea was president and founder of Bond Street Coaching, an executive coaching and consulting firm which supported financial professionals and entrepreneurs to achieve exceptional, sustainable results in their careers and lives, organizations and communities. She was also a freelance consultant in commercial banking risk management in the year leading up to her re-entry into banking. Andrea also serves as a member of the FWA Leadership Board.
