The recent climate change talks in Copenhagen have underscored the fact that developing nations must play a significant role in addressing future environmental issues. However, the public in general does not realize the extent to which emerging nations are already engaged in many areas of the global environmental marketplace.

This panel will discuss the role of emerging nations in developing sustainable energy practices, including their role in developing green energy projects and their role in the global carbon trading market. The panel will address issues such as:

  • How are emerging economies participating in the development of alternative energy technologies?
  • What are some of the most challenging political and economic barriers that developing countries face in adopting sustainable practices?
  • How are alternative energy projects being financed in the emerging world?
  • What financial incentives are being offered?
  • What is the role of emerging nations in the carbon trading market?
  • What are the implications for developing countries as result of the recent Climate Summit in Copenhagen?
