Celebrate spring and the glorious splendor of flowers! FWA NJ invites you to experience the exquisite beauty of Ikebana, the time-honored Japanese art of flower arranging.

Japanese flower arrangements are internationally renown for their dramatic beauty and tranquil elegance. While Western floral arrangers often display flowers en masse, the Japanese floral artist focuses more on creating a visual line by the positioning of materials within a vase or container.
Our skilled presenter, Laurie Kroll, will arrange branches, blossoms and other natural materials to create harmony, balance and form in several stunning displays. Her demonstration will help us gain an appreciation of a wonderful art form that Japanese men (including samurai warriors) and women have practiced for more than 500 years.
An FWA member, Laurie is also a Professor, First Grade of Ikenobo Ikebana, which is one of the oldest forms of Japanese floral art. Her study of Ikebana began in Montclair, NJ in 1988 and she has traveled to Kyoto, Japan for further studies at the headquarters of the Ikenobo School of Floral Art. Laurie has served on the Ikenobo Ikebana Society of New Jersey’s Board of Directors, first as Treasurer and now as First Vice President. She has exhibited her own arrangements in both Japan and the United States.
After 28 years in wealth counseling, Laurie recently joined Montclair High School as an economics and history teacher.
