No phenomenon in American life cries out for examination more than the impact of the news media on persons, movements, corporations, and events. All of us need to know more about how news organizations 'organize' the news world, both for practitioners--reporters, editors, and managers--and for the consumers--readers, viewers, and perhaps even more important, decision-makers.
Monday, February 11 is your chance to learn from one of the master practitioners of public relations, Richard Edelman, President & Chief Executive Officer of Edelman Public Relations, who has just been designated Advertising Age’s “Agency Executive of the Year.”
Fresh from the World Economic Forum in Davos, Mr. Edelman will share with the FWA his insights on the challenges to building credibility and trust through corporate communications in this new era of mass personalization, crisis management, and the effects of instant notoriety via internet postings and blogging.
Advertising Age has also named his firm, Edelman Public Relations, to their “2007 Agency A-List.” This is the industry publication’s list of the top-ten agencies in 2007. It is the first, and only, PR firm to receive this recognition. The firm has been a leader in corporate communications, working with GE to launch Ecomagination, with Starbucks to develop educational programs in the Chinese markets, and handling transaction communications through mergers and acquisitions, litigation support and crises.
Mr. Edelman has extensive experience in marketing and reputation management. Current clients include Schering-Plough, Swiss Re, and GAP. He counseled the governments of Israel, Mexico, and Egypt on economic development. In addition, he serves on the boards of the New York Historical Society and the Centers for Disease Control Foundation.
