The FWA’s Global Agenda Committee was launched this year to bring to members and others in the New York business community opportunities to hear experts on important international financial and economic developments—similar to the international briefings that FWA members have experienced at sites around the world since 1978.
Kicking off our programming on January 31 is a panel of experts on the BRICs. This acronym is shorthand for Brazil, Russia, India and China, whose economic potential has been predicted to become among the four most dominant economies by the year 2050. These countries are forecast to encompass over thirty-nine percent of the world's population and hold a combined GDP of more than 15.435 trillion dollars. On almost every scale, they would be the largest entity on the global stage. Goldman Sachs predicts China and India, respectively, to be the dominant global suppliers of manufactured goods and services while Brazil and Russia would become similarly dominant as suppliers of raw materials.
