A special opportunity is available to FWA members to meet non-profit entrepreneur Tracy Gary as she shows how to leverage charitable giving to bring about positive social change for women and girls. A breakfast book-signing event is being held on Wednesday, November 14th, co-sponsored by the FWA Not for Profit Committee and the National Council for Research on Women.

Admission is free, and FWA participants will meet Tracy Gary and receive a free copy of her recent book, Inspired Philanthropy, co-authored by Melissa Kohner with a forward by financial wizard Suze Orman.

Tracy Gary has held fundraising workshops around the country and has appeared on the Today show and Oprah as well as in national print and broadcast media. Her expertise was developed through years of philanthropic enterprise. A Pillsbury family heir, she began giving at the age of 14 using $100 to set up a charitable account. She has since worked with thousands of individuals and organizations to expand and improve philanthropy and volunteerism. Her latest venture is the Tipping Point Fund, for which she has raised $20 million on behalf of efforts to alleviate poverty and protect the environment.

The National Council for Research on Women, a network of 112 research, advocacy, and policy centers working to improve the lives of women and girls. The Council’s Corporate Circle, made up of 30 corporations from the financial services (including American Express, Citi, and Merrill Lynch), pharmaceutical and other sectors, is helping to build a more hospitable and inclusive environment for women and underrepresented groups through access to the latest thought leadership and best practices. The Council’s fact-based policy initiatives and cutting edge data-gathering, have earned it a place among the organizations identified by Tracy Gary as deserving support for making a difference. Michelle Clayman, Managing Partner and Chief Investment Officer of New Amsterdam Partners, and Council President Linda Basch will also speak at the event.

Copies of the book will be provided along with a continental breakfast.

Directions: Subway: 4/5/6/L/Q/R/W to 14th Street, Union Square
