Membership Event Highlights

Purpose

The mission of the Membership Committee is to:
  • Grow the membership base to ensure resources adequate to the accomplishment of the FWA mission

  • Emphasize the recruitment of people of color and younger professionals as well as experienced executives to optimize the quality of our current and bench leadership and to ensure access to FWA benefits for qualified professionals at all stages of their careers

  • Facilitate the application process and encourage immediate engagement of new members so as to: enrich their initial experience; forge links with committees of interest: and groom new members for leadership roles

The Bank of New York Mellon invites employees (only) interested in learning about the FWA to join BNY Mellon and FWA leaders Tuesday evening June 17.  Early reservations are advised as space is very limited.

Membership Application Review Schedule


Applications are welcome throughout the year. The Membership Committee reviews membership applications monthly on the dates below. Sponsors or applicants may contact the Membership Committee Co-Chairs or the FWA office with questions or suggestions. We are happy to facilitate a successful application.

Applications should be emailed to fwaoffice@fwa.org, with a resume if available, and the sponsor’s letter of recommendation. See the Membership and Forms section of www.fwa.org. Please submit applications by the Thursday prior to the review date.

The Membership Committee will contact approved applicants and advise them of next steps to complete membership. We will also notify sponsors of the good news.

Meeting Schedule

All members of the FWA are welcome to join the Membership Committee. While the Committee reviews applications monthly, the Committee meets bi-monthly or quarterly to focus on strategic issues related to membership growth and retention.

x Kept the percentage of paid members close to 100% by encouraging online payment and by personal follow-up by the Committee.

x Represented the FWA at the NY Times Financial Career Expo in the fall and spring, resulting in new publicity, connections and members.
