The committee fosters and provides topics and events around the global markets, with a focus in Emerging Markets, featuring distinguished speakers from the financial institutions, corporates, research, and academia. Objective is to provide educational and relevant current event topics that promote awareness of the global economy to the FWA members and beyond.

Accomplishments/Highlights

Costa Rica: Leading Green and Sustainable Development in the Americas
(Mar 2010)
We were pleased to work with the International Conference Co-Chairs on their event, “Costa Rica: Leading Green and Sustainable Development in the Americas.” This program and panel discussion provided an inspiring look at the progress and success that Costa Rica has had in implementing sustainable practices in their country.
The Green Revolution in the Emerging World (Feb 2010)
The committee presented a panel discussion that addressed the role of emerging nations in the global environmental marketplace. The panel of experts touched on topics such as the role of emerging nations in green energy projects, sustainable energy practices, and the carbon trading market.
Bright Spots and Challenges in Emering Markets (Jun 2009)
Examine the positive developments and challenges ahead in terms of economic, financial, political, and human capital perspectives. Sponsored by Bank of Tokyo Mitsubishi UFJ.
Global Risk Management (Feb 2009)
Given the recent changes in the global markets, the timely topic was to examine the changes in risk management pertaining to credit risk, regulatory risk, and human capital risk. The distinguished panel included LoriAnn Lowery, President of Lloyds North America, Kathryn Hayley, CEO, AON Consulting Worldwide, Rita Bolger, Senior Vice President, Global Regulatory Affairs and Associate General Counsel, S&P, Diana Adams, Senior Managing Director, AMBAC Assurance Corp. Investment and Capital Markets in Brazil (Sep 2008)
Brazil a leading Emerging Market country which has achieved tremendous fundamental economic growth in the past decade which has led significant capital markets activities. The Credit Suisse panel was moderated by Jamie Nicholson-Leener, Managing Director and Head of Latin Corporate Credit Research within the Investment Banking division.
