The mission of the Distinguished Speakers Committee is to develop programs that introduce members to CEOs and other senior corporate executives and focus on how these leaders perceive and resolve key strategic issues, share success stories of accomplished women leaders, and hear how corporations promote the capabilities and potential of female executives.

Accomplishments/Highlights (2009 - 2010)

Two well-attended events featuring C-level executives in leading financial institutions that shared insights on current and relevant topics:

An Evening with Sally Krawcheck (01/22/2010): Sally Krawcheck, President of Global Wealth & Investment Management for Bank of America was interviewed by Susan Isquith, co-chair of the Distinguished Speakers Committee. With more than 175 attendees, Ms Krawcheck provided a candid, first-hand perspective on the evolving financial industry, and reflected on this past year's events in the marketplace. She discussed the new environment for Global Wealth & Investment Management, and shared her experiences while she, herself, was in a transition. Ms Krawcheck also discussed the implications of the financial crisis highlighting how the financial industry would be able to re-gain the trust of Main Street, investors and clients. Ms. Krawcheck was recognized as one of Fortune’s “Most Powerful Women” in business for seven years between 2002 and 2009.

Face the Fed – An Evening with Christine Cumming (03/23/2010): – Christine Cumming, First Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of the Federal Reserve Bank of New York spoke to over 90 attendees about the actions taken by the Federal Reserve Bank and the reasons it made those decisions during the financial crisis. Ms. Cumming further provided insight into some of the factors that contributed to the 2008-9 financial crisis as well as discussing new domestic and supervisory policies that will be implemented to avert such a crisis in the future and to enhance the economic recovery. The event was held in the Fed’s historic downtown headquarters and attendees were able to tour the gold vault prior to Ms Cumming’s discussion.
