Transition Tuesdays Success Stories
I got my column through the FWA!

Congratulations on a wonderful year of programming. My only regret was that I could not hear all of the coaches speak.

As I mentioned, I have a particular reason to say thank you to you and the FWA. In January I attended the program on new years resolutions and procrastination. I had an idea for a column in Investment News, but hadn't got off the dime to pitch it.

When I came home from the program I wrote the editor and by the next day I had an indication of interest from him. I am now the Marketing Strategies columnist, my second column ran on Monday. Below is a link to them:

Transition to Microfinance

Thank you so very much for the Transition Tuesdays events that you have hosted over the last two years. As you know, I have been planning to transition from traditional financial services to the field of microfinance, and have attended many of these events.

Transitions are difficult, and at times I was very discouraged about my prospects in a relatively new, very competitive field. But after every Transition Tuesday event that I attended, I came away with new ideas, additional inspiration and the support of other FWA members. The speakers, typically career counselors, were very professional and tuned in to their audience. The other attendees had interesting stories to share that gave me perspective on the process of transition.

And, of course, thank you to Bear Stearns for sponsoring these events.

The venue was ideal for our purposes. I have been an active FWA member for
about 20 years, serving on the board and participating in a wide range of events. I believe that Transition Tuesdays is one of the most valuable programs that we can offer to members, cutting across industries, age groups, career levels.

The best news is that I will be transitioning to a new position in microfinance on Monday. I will be portfolio manager at MicroVest Capital Management, an investment firm providing capital, debt and equity, to microfinance institutions. Thank you for providing the support to help me to realize my dream.
