Susan Ganz, past president 10-11, is being honored by Girls Incorporated of Long Island on the evening of Tuesday, November 1st. Girls Inc. is a national non-profit youth organization that is dedicated to inspiring girls (particularly between the ages of 6 and 18) to be strong, smart and bold - a mission near and dear to Susan. In Long Island, funds are being raised for two of the programs: Economic Literary, where girls learn to manage money, invest and develop an appreciation for global economics; and Friendly PEERsuasion, where girls develop self-esteem skills to resist peer pressure to use harmful substances.
Susan was chosen to receive the "strong, smart and bold" award for the business community. and would be honored if you joined her on November 1st. Individual tickets are $50. Click for more information on the event.

Unprofitable businesses could sell their equipment-depreciation deductions for needed cash, Crain's New York Business, May 8th, 2011
June's company is pushing for federal legislators to propose a law that would create a marketplace where a small business could sell deductions it they can't use.
Cathleen Seneca, who has been serving on the FINRA Operations Professional CE Committee for the past year was nominated by the the Chair of that committee for the Council position. Cathleen won the council position for the four year term over three other industry candidates nominnees.
The Securities Industry/Regulatory Council on Continuing Education (the Council) has advisory and consultative responsibilities with regard to the development, implementation and ongoing operation of the Securities Industry Continuing Education Program. The Council is comprised of representatives from self-regulatory organizations (SROs)¹, and from the industry. Liaisons from the Securities and Exchange Commission and the North American Securities Administrators Association also participate in Council matters.
The Council maintains a web site - www.cecouncil.com - that is used to inform the industry about the Continuing Education Program. The Council web site also provides resources to assist the industry in complying with continuing education requirements.

Judith discussed strategies for navigating the job market and why women often can do better in this recovering economy.
